Local Culture

Alaska has a rich and diverse history when it comes to local culture. Beginning with the original inhabitants of Alaska, the Native Alaskans, to all of the people who have followed, the stories are intertwined and asking to be shared. As part of sustainable tourism, We believe in promoting authentic, accurate, and realistic insights into local life and culture.

Local Environment

Alaska is a natural paradise. From the summit of Denali to the ocean tides in Seward, you won’t find another place on Earth like it. We believe in educating travelers and locals alike to ensure that Alaska’s nature and wildlife can continue to thrive and prosper. Through sustainable tourism, we are dedicated to having as little human impact as possible on our natural environment.

Local Economy

Alaska is a state with a small population and a dedicated workforce. We believe that to keep Alaska as a sustainable travel destination, money made in Alaska should stay in Alaska. By using locally owned and operated companies, you are supporting the local economy and ensuring tourism in Alaska for generations to come.

What does sustainability mean to us?

We believe that, as people who enjoy traveling and experiencing new places, we have an obligation to respect and care for the places we visit. To us, sustainable tourism is about choices. It’s about choosing to work with small, locally run businesses to help support the local economy, including accommodations, restaurants, tours, and shops. It’s choosing to honor and respect the traditional culture of the people we visit and interact with. It’s choosing to use sustainable travel methods when possible. It’s choosing to respect the local nature and environment by strictly following Leave No Trace principles.

Our goals are to have a positive impact on the places we visit. We do this by educating travelers about the local culture, sharing information about sustainable travel and lifestyle choices, and serving as role models in sustainable practices for travel companies. We strive to be an active part of the conversation on sustainability in travel.
